011 Other Important Supernatural Inhabitants of Taoyundao

    On Taoyundao, there still exists many supernatural beings which aren't much related to witch Black Cat, for example, Shinto miko Sakura. Today I will introduce other two, which are pretty special and somehow important.

Linda: The Rainbow Doll

    When Linda was born in a tribe on Polynesia, she was made as a cursed doll. Her creator, a shaman doctor, collected fragments of wandering miserable souls to make an artificial soul for her. However, Linda couldn't act as well as her creator's prediction with such a low quality soul (including fragments of animals' !). Soon she had been abandoned and thrown to the sea.

    Many years later, Linda drifted to Taoyundao. About 1880, an European alchemist picked up Linda, and he tried to modify her. He mechanized Linda's body to let her can move smoothly and easily, and installed magical devices in Linda's torso as her organs. He also purified Linda's soul. Finally Linda became a normal girl apparently.

    Again, many years passed through, the alchemist died. Black found Linda by occasionally. She observed Linda, confirmed that Linda is not evil, then she accessed Linda and became her friend. Black Cat often helps Linda to maintain her body.

Fig 1: Linda often says she is also a hi-tec robot. The difference is normal robots are driven by electricity, and she is driven by magical power.

Fig 2: Linda's artificial soul is not that stable. Sometimes she may "go off her head" XD Don't be afraid, she won't hurt you.

Fig 3: Although Linda is always silly and funny, sometimes she will look graceful and dignitary when she is praying. She prays to the World sincerely, and the World will connect her with a rainbow. The rainbow will clean up her internal body's contamination caused by our mortal world, and recharge her artificial organs with magical energy. The World will response to Linda's prayer because Linda truly loves the World. She is so pure, she loves everything of this world. When Linda is praying, no one can be hostile to her, or try to take take advantage of her. In such meaning, Linda is invincible in praying.

Chue-Chue: The Xian Of Watermelon

    In Taoism, people believe that they can "upgrade" their on existences to be celestial beings(xian, 仙 in Chinese) if they train themselves hard in finding the WAY(Tao, 道 in Chinese). The WAY is the foudation of the Universe, it operates everything and exists in everything. If you can access the WAY, you can upgrade the existence of yourself to heavenly high-- or, you can be a God if you want(but being a God is not that attractive for some one who can access the WAY).     Xians can be understood as those taoists that get surreal powers and skills when they are still in the halfway. ( About xian: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xian_(Taoism) )

    There also exists another type of xians; they are non-human beings, such like animals, plants, even rocks. They can get surreal powers by chance, and they will have minds like humans'. In this stage, they will become fairies or monsters: if they are posessed by desires, they will be monsters(yao, 妖 in Chinese); otherwise they will be fairies. Some fairies are powerful and like to train theirselves to access the WAY, they can become xians as well.

    Chue-Chue is a xian of watermelon. When she as a normal watermelon, she met her master, legendary Taoist Li Mei-Ling. Mei-Ling taught Chue-Chue a lot, finally Chue-Chue found her way to be a xian.

    Chue-Chue can separate or take use of her own body arbitrarily. Her real body is the watermelon she holds, but her body parts can be mapped to the fruit flesh. So, if you eat Chue-Chue's feet, you just eat some of that watermelon. Chue-Chue will regenerate the flesh if she has enough magic energy.
